Madeline’s Story

In May we lost our almost 3 year old granddaughter to complications from brain cancer. She completed nine months of grueling surgery, chemotherapy and stem cell treatment, but lost her battle after six weeks in a coma.

Walk With You stepped in right as we were making the hardest decision of our live: to remove life-support. I was in the room when Kylie just listened; listened to all the pain and heartache of mom and dad. She asked all the right questions and responded with such empathy and understanding. She answered all the questions that we didn’t want to burden the staff with. She knew the answers to the questions we didn’t even know to ask.

On the day of support removal, she was quietly in the background. And when we didn’t know “what happens next” she gently stepped forward and lead us through the goodbye process. At the funeral meeting, she was there with ideas if we wanted them, and always with the deepest sympathy.

There are so many pieces she made us aware of: ideas for the funeral, including photography, that we would have never thought of!

Walk with you, provided not only emotional and directional support, but financial also. At a time when finance was the last thing we wanted to think about, Walk With You stepped in and relieved so much of the burden. Later, weeks after Madeline’s passing, Kylie orchestrated an event at our church to help them continue to walk with our family in sympathy and comfort. Our experience at Stead was greatly enhanced by the ministry of Walk With You and Kylie Collins in particular. There are no words to express our gratitude to Stead for providing such a support. We are eternally grateful.
